COMMONWEALTH GAMES DAY
Today at St Albans School we had a commonwealth games day. Room 28/9/22 were JAMAICA! We had soooo much fun competing in different events. Our team chant was "Jamaica, Jama-a-aica, we're number one and we're gonna win gold!, We're number one and we're gonna win gold!"
Georgia and Jessica said their favourite game was the tug of war and their team won! Ellie liked the ladder race, Georgie, Emmanuel, Sophie and Hannah liked the obstacle course, Toby and Shivesh liked the hockey shot, Yu liked the soccer shot, and Cater liked the skipping.
We dressed up in Jamaican colours - Green, Black, and Yellow. We all wore headbands with dredlocks, and entered the games in Jamaican Bobsleds!! Wow what a day.

Greedy Cats Door
Room 28 have re-created a shared story book to create an i-movie. Our learning Intention looked at our use of voice and what was needed to talk to an audience.
Each child chose a page, then created the illustration using a template of greedy cat and their own depiction of the background. When the artwork was finished they each took a digital photo of their art that was then loaded into i-movie. Dominic from our buddy class then helped each child (and Miss Scadden!) record their voices to become the narrators.
Miss Scadden is very proud of how well everyone did!

It was great to see Room 28 children supporting Daffodil Day 2010. They looked fantastic and the school raised over $700 for the Cancer Society! GREAT STUFF

Room 24 Our Buddy Class
Wow we are so lucky to have Room 24 as our buddy class. They have wonderful children who are budding experts at ICT today they came to show us lots of programmes we can use on the school's apple MAC computers. We had so much fun exploring programmes like Kidpix and photo booth. Miss Scadden called us a bunch of giggling girties because all she could hear was us laughing!!! We hope Room 24 can come and join us every Friday so we can become experts too!
Reading
We have been very busy learning to read. There are lots of opportunities in class to get involved in reading and reading activities. The children participate in guided reading with the teacher 4 times a week. During reading time the children who are not reading with the teacher have a wide range of activities to choose from that promote early reading skills. Some of these activities include buddy reading, reading in the library corner, reading games that promote letters and sounds, big books and poems, and whiteboards and pens with word cards. Miss Scadden is very pleased at how well the children are doing!!
